Course content
|
The course is aimed at introducing students to the basics and principles of multimedia technologies (image, sound, video). Students will also learn the principles of capturing, recording, encoding and compression of multimedia data. Lecture topics * Multimedia and its basic characteristics. Capture and processing of audio signals, audio compression. * Image data capture and storage, data formats, raster and vector graphics. Pre-processing of image data. * Linear discrete transforms, data compression. * Compression data models, video acquisition, compression and segmentation. Exercise content * Audio, image and video recording, introduction to computer technology. Processing of audio data in WAV format. * Pre-processing of image data, use of colour spaces. * Use of brightness correction and histogram equalization in digital images. * Acquisition of video recordings and their segmentation.
