Course content
Nutrition and Obesity Diabetes Blood, the Heart Human Anatomy, Death and Dying, Autopsy Forensic Analysis Monitoring the Patient, Describing Graphs X-ray, US, MRI and other imaging techniques (description, use) Hygiene Pathology Lab, Testing Mental Illness, Signs & Symptoms Writing a Report Telephone Skills, E-mail Communication Medication, Dosages, Numbers & Figures Alternative Treatments

Learning outcomes
Students will acquire knowledge and skills of English specific terminology. The aim of the course is to acquire the ability to read and understand English texts, to classify information and work with it, to acquire learning strategies for self-study and further use of language in everyday situations and in professional practice. The course is aimed at balancing students´ heterogeneous entry skills of and creating prerequisites for further development of general and professional communication. It focuses on training and development of all language skills (with an emphasis on grammar, specific vocabulary, reading comprehension and speaking/communication in professional context). The consolidation and deepening of grammar and lexical resources will be carried out in the form of substitution, transformation and translation exercises from a selected English textbook, with the support of the e-learning environment. Working with specialized texts and authentic audio-visual activities will serve for the development of general professional communication. Students will acquire knowledge of fundamental English medical terminology in given topics. Students will acquire skills in reading professional English medical or non-medical texts. The aim of the course is to equip students with competence in the field of professional language at the level of B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Students will acquire the fully developed level of B1 as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Prerequisites
The student obtained the required language skills from the previous semester according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
