Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The course further deepens communication skills in the field of General English and expands the knowledge of English for Specific (Medical) Purposes with extended medical terminology in the given areas of health care. The course aims to acquire key communicative language competencies in spoken and written expressions on professional medical topics, helps to choose adequate communication strategies and language resources; to work effectively with English professional text and to be able to process and present it; to sort information and work with it and to obtain learning strategies for self-study and further use of the language in everyday situations and in professional practice. The course takes the form of substitution, transformation or translation exercises from a selected English language textbook, with significant support of the e-learning environment containing professional texts and authentic audio-visual materials. The aim of the course is to equip students with competencies in English for Specific (Medical) Purposes at level B1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
