Course content
1) Hardware of PC's, operating systems. Introduction in computer networks. 2) Databases, principles. 3) Basics of HTML language, introduction in PHP 4) SQL language 5) Databases and web 6) Medical information, medical data. Definitions, 7) Hospital information systems, data standards in Czech Republic.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Written assignment presentation and defence, Group consultation, Lecture, Practicum, Students' portfolio
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 8 hours per semester
  • Preparation for comprehensive test - 8 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) - 2 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course summarizes the following topics in lectures and seminars: basic overview of PC hardware, architecture and computer networks. Fundamentals of database systems, HTML and PHP languages, SQL as database query language, web applications, database administration via web interface, information systems in health care, data standard of the Ministry of Health. Creating simple databases, web applications as database interfaces.
Students will acquire knowledge from the area of this subject.
Prerequisites
Basic knewledge of computer operating, text handling and formatting, data processing.

Oral exam, Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Presentation of group work, Oral presentation of self-study, Test
