Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the measurement of physical quantities. Measuring chain. Static and dynamic properties of measuring chain. 2. Sensor's signals processing. Intelligent sensors. Application at medicine instruments design. 3. Temperature measurement. Measurement using resistance transducers and thermocouples. 4. Contact less temperature measurement using pyrometers. Thermo vision. 5. Mechanical dilatation measurement. Force and pressure sensors. Vibration measurement. Accelerometers. 6. Sensors for position, trajectory and speed measurement. 7. Liquid level and liquid flow sensors. 8. Air humidity measurement. Psychometric, hydrometric and condensation methods. 9. Physical chemist quantities measurement. Nerst equation. Liquids conductivity measurement, PH measurement. 10. Magnetic measurement. Magneto resistors, Hall sensors, ferromagnetic sensors. 11. Optical fiber sensors and their use for basic physical quantities measurement. 12. Ultra -sound and microwaves sensors. 13. Radiation sensors. 14. Biosensors. Micro actuators, principles and application. Practice: Individual lectured themes will be practiced at laboratory practising.

Learning outcomes
The subject deals with the overview of basic medical sensors principles and characteristics. Both classical, semiconductors optical and smart sensors are lectured.
By the subject graduating, the students will familiar with sensors and their use in medicine.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge from physics, electrotechnics, electronics and physical quantities measurement are required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination, Oral exam, Written exam

The conditions for exam passing are good knowledge of lectured themes.
