Course content
|
Lectures: 1) Introduction to clinical hematology, basic knowledge about hematopoiesis. 2) Specific examinations for hematological diseases. 3) Introduction to transfusiology, transfusion preparations, indications of hemotherapy. 4) Adverse effects of transfusion. 5) Application of transfusion. Exercises: 1) Overview of laboratory methodologies, correct laboratory practice. 2) Morphological hematological examinations and their interpretation. 3) Tests for examination of hemostasis and their interpretation. 4) Immunohematological methods. 5) Pre-transfusion examination, transfusion application.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit, which provides students with basic knowledge in the field of clinical hematology, informs about basic and special examination methods in hematology. It includes knowledge about the methods of blood collection for haematological examinations. It explains the basic principles of transfusion medicine, introduces laboratory methods used in transfusion medicine, transfusion products, indications for their application and principles of administration including post-transfusion complications.
The student will acquire basic knowledge in the field of clinical hematology and transfusion medicine, will become familiar with basic and special examination methods in hematology.
