Course content
Lectures: 1) Importance of communication in health care, communication theory, transactional analysis. 2) Importance of non-verbal communication, factors influencing the course of communication. 3) Communication by telephone ? the operator's work within the operation center. 4) Effective communication, conflict management and negotiation, assertiveness. 5) Coping with difficult communication situations, managing emotions in communication. Exercises: 1) Model tasks: Communication in healthcare. 2) Model tasks: Use of non-verbal communication. 3) Model tasks: Communication by telephone in the healthcare sector. 4) Model tasks: Assertive conversation, Effective communication. 5) Model tasks: Conducting communication in difficult communication situations.

Learning outcomes
The subject is classified as a compulsory science foundation subject. It is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit that creates the basics of the professional knowledge and skills of a non-medical healthcare worker. The aim of the study subject is acquaint students with adequate communication skills.
Students will acquire the necessary adequate communication skills not only with patients and their family members, but also with co-workers. Furthermore, the goal is to teach students the elements of assertive communication and handling conflict situations
