Course content
Lectures: 1) Supporting collegial communication and the SPIS system. 2) Specifics of communication with selected groups of patients (children, old people, etc.). 3) Communication with a patient in acute psychological shock, communication with survivors. 4) Communication with patients with selected mental illness, communication with patients with health limitations. 5) Communication with a suicidal patient. Exercises: 1) Model tasks: Collegial supportive communication exercises. 2) Model tasks: Specifics of communication with selected groups of patients (children, old people, etc.). 3) Model tasks: Mastering communication in acute psychological shock. 4) Model tasks: Communication with patients with mental illness or with health limitations. 5) Model tasks: Communication with a suicidal patient.

Learning outcomes
The subject is classified as a compulsory science foundation subject. It is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit that creates the basics of the professional knowledge and skills of a non-medical healthcare worker. The aim of the study subject is acquaint students with adequate communication skills.
Students will especially develop skills in managing communication with suicidal patients, patients with mental illness, with people affected by misfortune in an acute stress reaction.
