Course content
|
Lectures: 1. Defence mechanisms: their basic division, the most common form of defence mechanisms in the sick individual, the influence and importance of defence mechanisms on the behaviour of the sick individual in the treatment process, the approach to the sick individual and work with him/her. 2. Psychological issues of childhood and adolescence: neonatal period, infant period, toddler period, preschool age, younger and older school age - prepubescence, pubescence and postpubescence, adolescence. Specifics of these periods, their normality and their psychopathology. Reaction of the individual of childhood and adolescence to illness. 3. Psychological issues of adulthood: its basic characteristics and division, biological maturity of the individual, legal maturity of the individual and social maturity of the individual, normality and psychopathology of adulthood. Reaction of the adult individual to illness. 4. Psychological issues of old age (gerontology): basic characteristics and developmental boundaries of old age, changes typical for old age, specifics of old age and the aging process, normality of psychopathology in old age, diseases in old age. 5. Psychological issues of death and dying: basics of thanatology, the last stage of human life, palliative care. Exercises: 1. Defence mechanisms and individual behaviour in health and disease. 2. Psychological issues of childhood and adolescence and specifics in reactions and behaviour. 3. Psychological issues of adulthood - reactions and behaviour of the adult individual. 4. Psychological issues in old age, the last stage of a person's life. 5. Death and the finality of human existence, communication with the dying and the bereaved.

The subject deals with clinical psychology and follows the subject Clinical psychology 1. It deals with defense mechanisms, psychological issues in individual periods of human development.
Students received main pedagogical and psychological competences.

Student's performance analysis
Classified credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - active involvement in teaching - reading recommended literature, - a written test.
