Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the basics of epidemiology, general and special microbiology, and the basics of physiology microorganisms that condition the properties of microbes important for clinical microbiology, prevention of occupational infections and transmission of healthcare-associated infections. The importance of microbial biofilm, the principle and prevention of its formation is presented. The form and role of the human microbiome is explained. The currently most epidemiologically significant causative agents are specified infectious diseases, surveillance, spread of resistant strains in bacterial disease agents, transmission routes infections. The basics of proper antibiotic policy, prevention of occupational infections and prevention of transmission are emphasized healthcare-associated infections. The basics of immunology are explained (immunity of the organism, the importance of antibodies in disease and in diagnostics; immunoprevention; immunotherapy).
Students will become familiar with the basics of epidemiology, general and special microbiology, the basics of the physiology of microorganisms, the basics of the correct antibiotic policy, the prevention of occupational diseases and the transmission of infections associated with health care, and the basics of immunology
