Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to the subject, conceptual apparatus, multiculturalism and transculturalism, ethnocentrism, culture shock, migration and multicultural society in the Czech Republic, health care system for foreigners. 2) Specification of verbal and non-verbal communication in transcultural nursing. 3) Giger and Davidhizar model: Model of culturally sensitive and adapted care; Model M. Leininger, Model Giger Davidhizar: specifics in the provision of nursing care to patients of the Roma and Ukrainian minority. 4) Giger and Davidhizar model: Specifics of providing nursing care to Christian and Orthodox patients confession. 5) Giger and Davidhizar model: The specifics of providing nursing care to Muslim and Jewish patients. 6) Giger and Davidhizar model: Specifics of providing nursing care to Jehovah's Witnesses; Vietnamese patients and Chinese minorities and others. 7) Specifics of communication and provision of pre-hospital emergency care in the medical emergency service. Exercises: 1) Nursing process within transcultural nursing. 2) Practical application of the Leininger model to selected minorities. 3) Practical application of the Giger and Davidhizar model to selected minorities. 4) Simulated situations focusing on communication and providing care to selected minorities. 5) Simulated situations focusing on communication and providing care to selected minorities. 6) Simulated situations in focusing on communication and providing care to selected minorities in an emergency environment income. 7) Simulated situations in with a focus on communication and provision of care to selected minorities in emergency medical care service.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to understand the concepts of ethnicity, culture, spirituality, faith, religion, to know the basic characteristics of selected ethnic, cultural and religious minorities.
The subject introduces students to the need for a multicultural approach in caring for individual patient needs, respecting the law on one's own cultural values, beliefs and convictions.
