Course content
Lectures: 1) Basics of orthopedics - diagnosis and principles of conservative treatment of orthopedic diseases, orthopedic surgery, congenital defects in orthopedics, osteoarthritis, alloplasty. 2) Introduction to traumatology, basic principles of treatment, conservative and operative treatment. Pelvic injury. 3) Injury of the upper limb - fractures, dislocations. Basic principles of diagnosis and treatment. 4) Injury to the lower limb - fractures, dislocations. Basic principles of diagnosis and treatment. 5) Preparation of the operation, sterilization, hygienic regime in the operating room. Infectious diseases in orthopedics. 6) Open fractures basic principles of treatment. 7) Differential diagnosis of back pain, bone tumors. Exercises: 1) The importance of a paramedic and the specifics of nursing care in orthopedics. 2) Nursing care of a patient with osteoarthritis after total endoprosthesis. 3) Nursing care of a patient after a pelvic ring injury. 4) Nursing care of a patient with a fracture - conservative treatment - plaster fixation. Methods of temporary fixation fractures. 5) Nursing care of a patient with a fracture of the proximal femur. 6) Nursing care of a patient with an open fracture - basic principles of treatment. 7) Nursing care for a patient with dislocation of large joints.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to familiarize with the issues of the field of surgery, clinical conditions and diseases in surgical fields, implementation of the nursing process for individual surgical diseases. The subject is designed as theoretical and practical whole.
