Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to surgery (wound surgery, anaesthesia, pre- and post-operative care, inflammation in surgery and sepsis, acute and chronic bleeding, thrombosis and embolism, drains and drainage systems, shock, nutrition of patients in surgery). Diseases of the stomach and oesophagus. NPB (basic division, diagnosis, treatment). 2) Craniocerebral injuries, brain tumours, spinal diseases including trauma. 3) Small and large bowel diseases, non-specific intestinal inflammation. Thoracic surgery (lung and mediastinal diseases, pneumothorax, pericardial puncture, drainage). Diseases of the mamma. 4) Introduction to traumatology. Trauma to the HC, trauma to the DK. Pediatric fractures. 5) Cardiac surgery, surgical procedures on valves, vessels; reconstructive procedures on coronary arteries. 6) Chest trauma. Injuries of parenchymatous organs. 7) Polytrauma, shock in surgery. Exercises: 1) Introduction to abdominal surgery, Diseases of the stomach and esophagus, nutrition. 2) Introduction to traumatology, Trauma of the HC and DK, pediatric fractures. 3) Diseases of the mamma, Diseases of the small and large intestine, diseases of the lung and mediastinum-inflammation in surgery 4) Acute and chronic bleeding, wound care-asepsis,drains 5) Trauma to chest-pneumothorax, parenchymatous organs, polytrauma-shock

Learning outcomes
The subject Nursing Care in Surgical Fields 1-2 is conceived as theoretical-practical. It characterizes clinical conditions in surgical fields in terms of nursing care and needs of patients altered in connection with surgical diseases of respiratory, digestive and cardiovascular tract, kidneys and urinary tract, central nervous system, etc. focused on effective solutions of nursing problems of patients in abdominal and thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, in the surgical fields of urology, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, transplantology and oncosurgery etc.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Didactic test

Classified credit: - 80% attendance at exercises, - passing the test.
