Learning outcomes
The course provides basic knowledge of English professional terminology. The aim is to practice the ability to read and understand English text, to classify and work with information, to acquire learning strategies for self-study and further use of language in everyday situations and in professional practice. The course is aimed at balancing heterogeneous entry skills of students and creating further prerequisites for further development of general and professional communication. It focuses mainly on the training and development of language skills (with an emphasis on grammar and vocabulary) and speech skills (with an emphasis on oral and reading comprehension). The consolidation and deepening of grammar and lexical resources will be carried out, among other things, in the form of substitution, transformation or translation exercises from a selected English textbook, with the support of the e-learning environment. Working with specialized texts and authentic audio-visual activities will serve for the development of general professional communication. Students will acquire basic English medical terminology in given topics. Students will understand English medical or non-medical texts. Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to equip students with competencies in the area of ??professional language at the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - presentations on a selected topic, - individual work and homework in an e-learning course environment, - written credit test (min. 60% correct answers).
