Course content
Lectures: 1) Nursing process when applying transfusion preparations and blood derivatives. 2) Professional introduction to surgical issues, preoperative and postoperative care; dressing materials. 3) Nursing care for wounds, pressure ulcers, drains; surgical instruments. 4) Nursing care of the patient before, during and after specialized examinations (puncture, endoscopy); nursing care of a patient with a stoma. 5) Thanatological nursing care. Exercises: 1) Nursing care of the patient during the application of transfusion preparations and blood derivatives. 2) Nursing care of the patient in the preoperative and postoperative period. 3) Preparation of sterile table, dressing for surgery; surgical instruments. 4) Dressing techniques; nursing process in a patient with a wound and pressure ulcer. 5) Small surgical interventions - sutures, lavage, dehiscence, stoppage of bleeding. 6) Nursing care of a patient with drains. 7) Nursing care of the patient before, during and after specialized examinations (puncture). 8) Nursing care of the patient before, during and after the endoscopic examination. 9) Nursing care of a patient with a stoma (incl. tracheostomy, nephrostomy). 10) Thanatological nursing care, transfer of estate.

Learning outcomes
The subject is included as a compulsory subject of the program and forms the basis of professional skills. Teaching is both theoretical and practical. The aim of the subject is to help students acquire basic knowledge, but also manual skills, assurance of safe and high-quality performance of professional procedures for patients.
