Course content
Lectures: 1) General principles of first aid; distribution of first aid; first aid procedure 2) Ensuring the safety of the injured and the rescuer, examination of the injured, provision of first aid, RZP, permanent supervision, recording of information, transport and its transport 3) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults and children (primary and advanced), indirect cardiac massage, defibrillation, use of AED, artificial respiration, airway management and artificial lung ventilation; circulatory failure; respiratory disorder; emergency resuscitation in special events 4) Drowning; hanging and strangling; electric shock; intoxication; shock, its distribution; rule 5T; bleeding, division of external and internal bleeding, general principles 5) Open wounds, wound splitting, traumatic amputations, special types of wounds, bite, snake bite, insect bite, poisoning, unconscious, disabled with consciousness; elimination methods 6) Thermal injuries; burns; burns; cold damage; injuries to the brain and skull, spinal cord and spine, chest, abdomen, bones and joints; mass injury 7) Consciousness disorders and convulsions: unconsciousness, collapse, syncope, delirium, seizures; respiratory insufficiency: shortness of breath, asphyxia, aspiration, pneumothorax and others 8) Urgent conditions in internal medicine: stroke, diabetes mellitus, anaphylaxis, cardiology and others 9) Urgent first aid procedures 10) Ethical problems in providing first aid Exercises: 1) First aid procedure, patient examination, transport 2) Basic and widespread cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults and children 3) First aid for external and internal bleeding, anti-shock measures, electric shock 4) First aid for open injuries, amputations, treatment of acute wounds 5) First aid in an intoxicated patient 6) First aid for treatment of burns and cold damage 7) First aid for brain and skull, spinal cord and spine injuries, consciousness disorders and convulsions 8) First aid in respiratory insufficiency 9) First aid in emergency situations in internal medicine 10) First aid for emergency situations in surgical fields

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject acquaints with clinical conditions, which can immediately endanger human life, with the basics of first aid in the field, treatment, specific life-saving procedures and patient care in the departments of acute intake, resuscitation and intensive care.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Combined examination

Credit: - compulsory attendance at exercises, - written credit test, - oral exam.
