Course content
|
Lectures: 1) Basic emergency resuscitation; call for technical assistance, communication with the operations center; procedure after arrival of professional assistance 2) Basic emergency resuscitation - emergency resuscitation of children; use automated external defibrillation 3) Shock, anti-shock measures 4) First aid for thermal trauma, electric shock, chemical trauma 5) Bleeding (arterial, venous, capillary; external, internal), haemostasis 6) First aid in selected non-traumatic emergency conditions 7) Mass disaster procedure, CBRN, transport techniques Exercises: 1) Basic emergency resuscitation of an adult 2) Basic emergency resuscitation of the child; use of AED in CPR and external defibrillation 3) Basics of dressing technique, emergency first aid for bleeding 4) First aid for musculoskeletal injuries - sprains, dislocations, fractures, fixation, manipulation with the handicapped, improvised transport 5) Model situations: sudden non-traumatic disorders of consciousness (vasovagal collapse, arrhythmia, urgent conditions in diabetes mellitus) 6) Model situations: seizures - epilepsy, febrile seizures; intoxication) 7) Pharmacies used in first aid

Learning outcomes
|
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject provides an overview of the principles and procedures of providing emergency first aid with special attention to the procedures for the failure of basic vital functions and life threatening situations. The course also includes situations of mass occurrence of the victims in crisis situations and emergencies, including CBRN.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to independently diagnose the failure of basic vital functions, identify the states of immediate life threat, perform basic emergency resuscitation and provide emergency first aid.
