Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to biostatistics and descriptive statistics 2. Descriptive statistics, graphical presentation of data 3. Probability: types of distribution, characteristics of random variables, percentiles 4. Hypotheses testing: parametric tests, non-parametric tests 5. Hypotheses testing: non-parametric tests, goodness-of-fit tests 6. Contingency tables, tests of independence (Chi-square test of independence) 7. Analysis of Variance 8. Correlation and regression: t-tests, F-tests 9. Regression models 10. Reserve Tutorials: 1. Statgraphics Centurion Software 2. Descriptive statistics, graphical presentation of data 3. Probability models, percentiles 4. Hypotheses testing - parametric tests 5. Goodness-of-Fit tests 6. Non-parametric test (Chi-square test, goodness-of-fit tests) 7. Contingency 8. Learning outcomes
The course introduces basic procedures of data analysis from the medical, sociological, biological and psychological sphere. It also contains principles of theory of probability, mathematical statistics and analysis of dependences.
Student will be able to apply basic statistical methods of analysing data with the help of the statistical programme STATGRAPHICS.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of ZBI (Principals of Biostatistics), computer skills.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Credit - attendance min. 80 %, written credit test min. 60 %. Exam - written exam min. 60 %.
