Course content
Lectures and seminars: 1. Monitors of basic life functions 2. Defibrillators, cardiostimulators, contrapulsators 3. Electrocautery 4. Devices for extracorporeal circulation and mechanical heart aids 5. ECG devices including an ambulatory recorder, echocardiographic devices 6. Devices for functional diagnostics in cardiology, recording devices for catertizetion laboratories (hemodynamic laboratories, recording devices for electrophysiology) 7. Modern mapping systems for electrophysiology 8. Anesthesiology devices 9. The possibilities of image and ECG documentation storage in digital format (PACS systems) In the framework of the subject the field of cardiostimulation is introduced including stimulation regimens, and also problems of implantable cardioverters-defibrillators and ambulatory monitoring of these devices. In addition to it also devices used for blood cleaning (hemodialysis, hemofiltration, etc.) The subject further introduces safety rules while operating medical technologies and problems of electromagnetic interference.

Learning outcomes
Main objective of the subject is primarily providing a summary about diagnostic and therapeutic devices used in cardiology, cardiac surgery and anaesthesiology and resuscitation ward and about their clinical utilization. In terms of the subject introduction to cardiac stimulation branch is also implemented with a summary of stimulative regimes. The subject contains further a summary of devices used to a blood purification (blood dialysis, blood filtration etc) Part of the subject is a summary of safety in service rules of medical technique and questions of electromagnetic interference.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Student's performance analysis, Practical demonstration of acquired skills

The attendance at seminars is 100 % compulsory. The subject will be finished with a credit. The attendance at seminars is compulsory. The necessary precondition of a credit is the successful realization of all tasks. The proceedings of individual seminars will be submitted at the end of the semester.
