Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to forensic medicine. 2) The concept of forensic medicine, basic terms, death, examination and autopsy of the deceased, postmortem changes, vital reactions, determining the time of death. 3) Introduction to war medicine. 4) Violent biomechanics - blunt, sharp, gunshot wounds. 5) Radiation protection and legislation; principles, concepts and goals of radiation protection. 6) Radiation accidents and extraordinary events. 7) Basic overview of hazardous chemicals and their effects in emergency situations; decontamination and procedure at the site of intervention. Exercises: 1) External examination of the deceased, evaluation of the development of postmortem changes. 2) The course of the medical examination. 3) Course and specifics of the forensic autopsy. 4) Coniotomy, insertion of intraosseous cannula, chest puncture and insertion of chest drainage. 5) The specifics of the rescuer's work during an emergency in connection with a radiation hazard. 6) The specifics of the rescuer's work during an emergency in connection with a chemical hazard. 7) Case reports from the field of extraordinary events connected with radiation or chemical protection of the population - specification of IZS cooperation.

Learning outcomes
Emergency medicine deals with the multidisciplinary issues of diagnosis, primary treatment and treatment of suddenly arising conditions of immediate threat to life and all suddenly arising diseases and injuries at the scene of the event, during transport of the affected by ground or air means of the medical rescue service and during the transition from pre-hospital to hospital care. It also deals with the planning, organization and management of rescue operations during mass disasters and accidents, as an activity of the mountain service. Thematically, it is closely connected with war medicine and forensic medicine. The subject is focused on forensic medicine, war medicine and disaster medicine.
The student will gain information and practical experience related to forensic medicine, war medicine and disaster medicine.
Prerequisites
The condition for enrolling in the FZS/UMMK4 subject is a graded credit obtained from the FZS/UMMK3 subject
