Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to the subject. Ethics as a philosophical discipline. 2) Ethics versus legislation. Codes of ethics. 3) Ethical aspects of oncology care with a close connection to radiotherapy. 4) Ethical aspects of the end of life. 5) Ethical aspects of the beginning of life. 6) Ethical aspects of transplantology and intensive care. Exercises: 1) Case studies and practical examples from medical ethics. 2) Ethical codes, patient rights, mandatory confidentiality - examples, practical application. 3) Oncology patient in the care of a radiology patient, patient autonomy, shared decision-making. 4) Discussion of ethical aspects of palliative care and euthanasia. 5) Discussion of the issues of the beginning of life (abortion in the context of the world, sterilization, surrogacy, ethical aspects of in vitro fertilization, etc.) 6) Discussion of the issues of transplantology (donors with beating hearts, organ allocation, etc.).

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject acquaints with the value system forming the basis of professional behavior of radiological assistants. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in medical ethics, terminology in a broader context and in relation to historical roots in the adoption of new knowledge in medicine and non-medical health care disciplines. Students will be able to define the importance of compulsory confidentiality and the importance of patient's right to self-determination. Students will learn to explain the basic principles of the code of ethics in nursing and other non-medical health care disciplines and will be able to orientate in trends of ethics development in our country and in the world and they will be able to discuss ethical problems.
Students will gain knowledge and skills in medical ethics, terminology in a broader context and in connection with historical roots in the acceptance of new knowledge in medicine and non-medical health fields. Students will be able to define the meaning of mandatory confidentiality and the meaning of the patient's right to self-determination. Students will learn to explain the basic principles of the code of ethics in nursing and other non-medical health fields and will be able to orient themselves in the trends of the development of ethics in our country and in the world and will be able to lead a discussion on ethical problems.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Essay, Test

Credit: - self-study, - student activity during lectures and exercises, - 80% attendance at exercises, - writing an essay on any medical ethics topic, - final test.
