Course content
|
Lectures: 1) Introduction to pharmacology and pharmacy, basic terms in pharmacology, preclinical and clinical drug testing; Czech Pharmacopoeia, legislation, drug abuse 2) Drug delivery routes, drug forms; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; homeopathy; factors affecting the effect of the drug; drug interactions 3) Drugs used in diseases of the digestive tract; medicines for respiratory diseases; drugs used in metabolic disorders; diabetes mellitus and its treatment 4) Drugs affecting the cardiovascular system; treatment of chronic heart failure 5) Antihypertensives; blood disease drugs; antiallergics; corticoids; drugs affecting the CNS; pain treatment 6) Radiopharmaceuticals; X-ray contrast media

Learning outcomes
|
General and clinical pharmacology acquaints with basic knowledge of general and clinical pharmacology, which is followed by other subjects. It contains general pharmacology, an overview of drug groups used in medicine, including their indications, contraindications, dosages and side effects, and the use of pharmacology in practice, as well as links with other scientific subjects such as morphology and pathology.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam
Credit: - self-study, - 80% attendance at lectures. Exam: - oral examination: two questions (1st question is from the field of general pharmacology, 2nd question is from the field of specialized pharmacology); basic knowledge of the issue, basic classification of groups of medicinal products, basic mechanisms of action, the most common adverse reactions, contraindications required and interaction.
