|
The course is an introduction to lexical analysis. Vocabulary items (lexemes) are studied from various perspectives: their types, how new lexemes can be created, what relations there are between lexemes, how lexemes interact with one another in syntactic structures, how complex lexemes are structured, how the meaning of existing lexemes can change, etc. The lexical analysis is placed into the context of second language learning and teaching with special regard to speakers of Czech learning English.
After completing the course the student has mastered the rudiments of English Lexicology.
