Course content
Suggested themes. Week 1. Marshmallow challenge. Practical team building activity. Week 2. Debates. High culture should not be supported by government. Marriage is an outdated institution. Religion is irrelevant today. Week 3. Drama. Voice projection exercises. Regression. Roleplay situations. Pride and Prejudice and Romeo and Juliet. Most famous dialogues in English language. Week 4.Fims. To kill a mockingbird, Pride and Prejudice, Pygmalion. Discussion of merits Week 5. Scottish country dancing. Gay Gordons and the Canadian Barn Dance. Week 6. British Culture. James Bond, the Beatles and Queen. Week 7. London, how to get around and the Royal family discussion. Week 8. Drama 2. Acting famous and not so famous European fairy tales. Week 9. English Liberec walk.. Week 10. Christmas advertisements including John Lewis and Sainsburys. Week 11. Tell a story. Three of my audio recordings. Week 12. Types of intelligence and use of psychological games in the classroom. Week 13. Revision Week 14. Test. Oral assessment in pairs.

Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student should be at level C1 on the Common European framework They should be able to a. understand a wide range of demanding longer clauses, and recognize implicit meaning b. express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much searching for expressions c. use language effectively and flexibly for social academic and professional purposes d. produce clear, well structured detailed text on complex subjects showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
Depending on individual student moving towards C1 from B2 level or moving towards C2 level.

Threshold B1 plus level of English

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Student's linguistic performance analysis, Interview, Test

The course is finished with zapocet. Students are allowed a maximum of two absences and must write to the teacher if they will be absent. Students must participate in classes. Students must attain a writing level of B2 in the half term written assessment and a spoken level of B2 in the final speaking assessment.
