Learning outcomes
The aim of the Practical language component is to introduce topics directly related to students' own experience and, through discussions and a variety of other methodologies, increase conversational fluency and listening skills from B2+ to C1-. The course also focuses on building students' vocabulary, basic reading skills, i.e. skimming, scanning, detailed reading, and on consolidation of the students' knowledge of the English grammatical system they learned at secondary schools. The aim of the subject is to continue systematic development of language skills (except writing within a special course), maximum extension of active and passive vocabulary, intensive improvement in the field of advanced listening and reading with understanding and detailed knowledge C1-. Students are led to analytical, synthetic and critical thinking, the ability to combine, logical argumentation and exact expression. Active participation in exercises and the use of a foreign language in the professional and general context of a comprehensive nature is crucial. Students are ready to pass the semestral examination at a fully mastered C1- according to the common European reference framework.
English on the fully acquired B2+ level.
Prerequisites
English on threshold B2+ level aiming at C1-.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Test

Generally: Active participation in lessons, homework, written test and an oral exam. - 3 absences are possible - Active participation is expected in seminars, plus, fulfilled tasks from the CAE Workbook- - Prepared handout/activity for classmates concerning the particular grammar topic for practicing on site - Written test at the end of the semester, 70% is a treshold - Retake is possible - If a students passes the test, he/she may sit for the oral exam - The final grade is composed of the average of two parts: the test, and ortal exam
