Learning outcomes
|
Students will learn the general laws of ecology, which is here conceived in the classical concept as a biological discipline dealing with the relationship between organisms and the environment. Students will understand general ecological principles through practical examples from theoretical and applied ecology. Students will also consolidate the concepts of environmental education, education and awareness (EEIE) as a comprehensive, legislatively enshrined part of the educational process in primary schools.
Students will understand basic ecological principles, relationships between organisms and their environment, and learn methods of environmental education.

Students will learn about legislative and curricular documents and specifics of the school system, public administration, local government and eco-centres. In the practical part of the course, students will understand the principles and methods suitable for environmental education through concrete cases. They will watch and analyse short-term and long-term educational programmes (e.g. School for Sustainable Living, Eco-School, Dubious Souvenirs, Animals in Peril, Green Island, Easter Island, 7 Colours of the Rainbow, Forest at School, Fairy Rosaria's Well, Hurvínek's Journeys into Nature, Four Kingdoms, etc.). In addition, they will understand the importance of eco-schools, the principle of fair-trade, the importance of the ecological footprint and other environmentally friendly activities. Students will study information on the specification of different age groups in the assignment of creating a unit of learning and will use practical examples to learn varied methods of how to implement EVSE in primary and secondary schools. They will learn from the literature how schools and teachers can use EVVO services provided by different organisations (e.g. professional institutions such as zoos, eco-centres, etc.). Seminar work. Written credit test.
