Topics: 1. The public's relationship to nature and the environment, psychological aspects I. 2. The public's relationship to nature and the environment, psychological aspects II. 3. Learning outcomes
|
The ability and skill to communicate the results of research and monitoring in the field of nature conservation and environmental protection is key to reaching consensus on the need for and methods of solving environmental problems. The aim of the course is to supplement the legally established information and communication obligations of public administration and business entities towards the public with other necessary and effective communication skills that open up space for active public participation in nature and environmental protection. Students will learn about the importance of environmental education and locally based learning in building a relationship with the place, nature, and landscape, and will understand the need and ways to raise awareness of environmental issues and nature conservation. They will learn about methods of interpreting natural heritage, test their effectiveness in practice in protected areas, and use their own creativity to propose improvements. They will understand the basic principles of participation and gain an overview of the activities of environmentally oriented non-governmental non-profit organizations. They will test the validity of effective communication principles in practice and try out facilitation skills.
Learning outcomes: Students will understand the importance of effective communication and public relations in solving environmental problems. Students will gain an overview of the basics of environmental education, training, and awareness, as well as locally based learning and interpretation of natural heritage. Students will acquire basic knowledge about the importance and functioning of various types of environmentally oriented non-governmental non-profit organizations. Students will be able to design a communication strategy and describe the goals and means of interpretation depending on the specific problem and situation.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit, exam: Credit - at least 80% attendance at exercises (50% of the grade), evaluation of individual and group work and exercise outputs (50% of the grade). Exam ? written test with a pass mark of 75% or higher (50% of the grade), oral exam (50% of the grade).
