Course content

1. Activating methods and tools (Kahoot, Quizlet). Division of methods focusing on the development of critical and creative thinking. The importance of activating methods, their breakdown. Activity-based learning 2. Complex teaching methods: characteristics, examples. Feedback. Personal development. 3. Problem-based learning, types of problem-based learning. 4. Brainstorming, Brainwriting, Philips 66, Gordon Method, Hobo Method, Focused Questioning Method, Consensus Method. 5. Situational and staging methods, their breakdown. 6. Didactic games: principles, use. Division of games, methodological preparation. Examples of game activities. 7. Project-based learning. Methodological procedures, selection of material. 8. Research-oriented teaching, individual cycles, and levels. 9. Visualization of chemical structures as an inquiry-based activity. 10. Working with text, methods of working with text, their advantages and disadvantages. Critical thinking. 11. Motivational experiments as a part of the pupil's extrinsic motivation. Their selection, inclusion in the different phases of the lesson. 12. Experiments with commonly available chemicals. 13. Connecting the classroom with the real world: kitchen, garage, garden. Popularisation, citizen science, self-made devices, use of tools in classroom equipment. 14. Use of field trips in teaching.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the lectures is to familiarize students with the characteristics of activation methods and their use in science teaching. In the exercises, to practically deal with the methodology of preparation and selection of topics of the curriculum. To carry out the methodological preparation of the lessons, to discuss it in the group and to guide the students in the practical verification of the preparation in the students' practice in cooperation with the trainee teacher.
