Course content
The course New Trends in Fine Arts 1 combines lectures and guided tours of contemporary art exhibitions. The aim of the course is to use specific examples of artists and trends to identify the relationships between 20th-century art and contemporary art, describing the complex relationships between the avant-garde and neo-avant-garde and the present day, traditional artistic media and new media of the digital age, with a higher degree of theoretical reflection. This is not only about the relationship between contemporary art and previous art, but also about the transformation of the perception of the world that took place in the last century as a reflection of current events. Therefore, in order to understand art, it is often necessary to refer to contemporary scientific and philosophical thinking. Lecture topics: 1-2) Jiří Příhoda: The context of the turn of the 1980s and 1990s in art 3-4) Works in the landscape 5-6 On the edge of architecture 7-8 Works in a gallery environment 9-10) Richard Serra: introduction and context of minimalism and post-minimalism 11-12 Works in the landscape 13-14 Sculpture and the city Learning outcomes: Knowledge Students: 1. Knows the main artistic trends of the 20th and 21st centuries and their interrelationships. 2. Understands the connections between avant-garde, neo-avant-garde, and contemporary art. 3. Knows examples of important authors and works in the context of the development of contemporary visual art. 4. Understands the relationship between traditional and new media, including digital media. 5. Knows the connections between the development of fine arts and changes in philosophical and scientific thinking. Skills Students: 1. Analyzes and interprets contemporary artistic trends based on specific works and authors. 2. Is able to place specific works of art in a broader historical and theoretical context. 3. Critically evaluates the relationship of a work of art to space ? landscape, architecture, gallery, urban environment. 4. Applies theoretical knowledge when reflecting on exhibitions and art projects. 5. Leads a qualified professional discussion on contemporary visual art. General competencies Students: 1. Perceives contemporary art in the context of cultural, social, and intellectual changes. 2. Combines knowledge from the fields of fine arts, art theory, philosophy, and science. 3. Seeks out and critically uses relevant sources for their own theoretical reflection. 4. Is familiar with current developments in the visual arts and expresses informed opinions. 5. Ability to formulate and defend their own interpretation of works of art.

The course New Tendencies of Fine Arts 1 combines lectures and guided tours of contemporary art exhibitions. The objective of the course is to name the relations in art of the 20th century with today's art on the specific examples of artists and tendencies, when it is necessary to describe the complex relationship between avant-garde and neoavantgarde and the present, traditional artistic media, new media of the digital age with higher levels of theoretical reflection. It is not only the relations of contemporary art to the previous, but also to the transformation the perception of the world which occurred in the last century, as reflection of current events. Therefore, in order to be able to understand the art, it is often necessary to refer to contemporary scientific and philosophical thinking. Topics overview: 1. Postminimalism I 2.
