The course is an introduction to sociological methods and ways of thinking. Three block lectures focus on the sociological aspects of architecture and space. Each block consists of two parts: In the theoretical part, we introduce and discuss relevant social problems. In the practical part, we get acquainted with basic sociological methods, and we try them out in the field. The course aspires to widen the perspective of the architect and to provide awareness of the sociological methods and data available to enrich the architectural approach. The aims of the course are 1. to support critical thinking about own design process, and 2. to show ways to use sociological approach to urban, spatial, and architectural issues.
To grasp knowledge of sociological aspects of architectonic work.
