Course content
Lectures: 1. Art primeval cultures - Palaeolithic culture Czech land and Western Europe. 2. Art ancient cultures - art of Mesopotamia, Uruk, Ur, Egypt art. 3. Antique art - art on Crete, art archaic Greece, art classical Greece, period of Hellenism, Tuscan art, art Romish empire and Romish republic . 4.-5. Christian art and early medieval culture - Christian art and its notation, Byzantine art, Ireland, Kelts, Caroline and Otto renesance. 6.-7. Art Middle Ages - French Romance schools, friaries, Gothic dress and architecture. 8. Medieval art to Bohemia - Konstantin and Method, archaeological locality, art to Bohemia under Premysl's rule. 9.-11. Culture and art Renaissance - philosophically style, perspective, Renaissance dress and architecture. 12.-13. Baroque art - outlines, the Trident council, klasicizujici and radical flow, Italy, Spain, Netherlands. 14. Czech baroque art - court of Rudolf II., Joan George Bendl, Ferdinand Maxmilian Brokoff, Matthew Bernard Braun, baroque painting, dress and architecture. 15.-16. Classicism - at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries - political, social and philosopher changes; La Madelaine, Antonio Canova, Jacquea- Louis David, Jean August Dominique Intres, dress and architecture. 17.-18. Romanticism - the early 19th century - Théodore Géricault, Eugene Delacroix, Francisco Goya; English realist painting, John Constable, William Turner, Caspar David Friedrich 19.- 20. Realism of the 19th century - Barbizon school, Gustave Courbet, Francois Millet, Theodore Rousseau, Honoré Daumier; Russian realism, Ilja Jefimovič Repin; Czech realism 21.- 22. Impressionism I - explication conceive impressionism; Claude Monet, Camille Pissaro, Eduard Manet, Edgar Germain Degas 23.-24. Impressionism II - Alfred Sisley, Pierre August Renoir, Jiří Prucha 25.- 26. Postimpressionism and symbolism - postimpressionism, P. Cezanne, P. Gauguin, v. Van Gogh, H. Toulouse Lautrec; pointillism, Georges Seurat; intimismus; symbolism 27.-28. Secession - principles of secession, William Blake and secession elements in his part, Gustavus Klimt, Alphonse Mucha and Slavonian epopee, architecture, commercial art, dress.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The history of European art and clothing - 1 section. Fine clothing culture of ancient history of European art and clothing from medieval times to the Empire period.
