Course content
Lectures (topics): 1. Subject of the world economy and its position in the system of economic sciences, theory of the WE. 2. Economic and social characteristics of contemporary WE. 3. International organizations - UN, World Bank. 4. Main features and tendencies of the globalized economy. 5. Importance of nation state, MNC and international organizations in the world economy. 6. Regionalism in the WE. 7. EU - history, institutions, decision-making processes, EU common market - dual theme. 8. Characteristics of the US economy, NAFTA. 9. The position of Japan, APEC in the world economy. 10. Developing countries in the world economy. 11. The position of China, Asia in the world economy. 12. India's position in the world economy. 13. The position of Brazil, MERCOSUR in the world economy. 14. Russia's position in the world economy. 15. The position of the Czech Republic the world economy. 16. World economic centers, mutual comparison. 17. The WE forecasts.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the issues of international economic links in the context of globalization of both economic activities and world economy, and to provide an overview of factors and trends in international division of labour as well as international business, financial, monetary, and capital relationships.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is knowledge in the range of Microeconomics 1 and Macroeconomics 1.
