Course content
1. Introduction to the subject; origin, subject, function and structure of sociology. 2. Basic principles of contemporary society. 3. Development of chosen sociological theories. 4. Basic paradigms of sociological theory ? theory of consensus, theory of conflict and interpretative sociology. 5. Nature, civilization, culture. 6. Social order and individual: socialization. 7. Social order and individual: family and gender. 8. Social order and individual: social interaction and communication. 9. Social order and individual: social role and status. 10. Norms, values, needs. 11. Conformity and social control. 12. Social groups, institutions and organisations. 13. Social stratification. 14. Basics of sociological research.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming)
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 50 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the elementary understanding of sociological theories and perspectives. Absolvent of the course should learn the basic sociological terminology; understand the main sociological concepts and their application in the studied specialization. The goal of the course is ability of sociological perspective in understanding social reality and ability of its using in critical analysis of social phenomenon.
The students will acknowledge themselves with the informations acording to the goal and the matter of the course.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
