Course content
1. The fundamentals of financial management . The company mission and long-term goals. 2. External factors and their influence on financial management and decision-making. 3. The risk and time effects in financial management. 4. - 5. Determination of costs for foreign capital and equity. Factors affecting the decision-making concerning the indebtedness. 6. Strategic long-term investment decision-making (investment process,investment process, the impact of interest, taxes and inflation on investment decision). 7. - 8. Management of working capital, receivables, inventory, liabilities, cash management and external sources of financing. 9. - 10. Financial analysis - bankruptcy and credibility models. Business performance management, history of methods for business performance measurement, utilization of financial analysis as a traditional approach of measurement. 11. Modern conceptions of business performance measurement (EVA, MVA, SVA, CFROI). Identification of key factors affecting the business performance. 12. - 13. Complex approaches to business performance measurement (Benchmarketing, TQM, Six Sigma, Balanced Scorecard). 14. Company valuation methods (basic principles of valuation, resource data, valuation methods). Seminars: 1. Analysis of the external and internal environment of the company. 2. Decision-making example - determination of decision-making process and discussion about factors which could affect the decision. 3. Time value of money in financial and risk measurement. 4. Costs of individual types of capital. 5. Evaluation of economic efficiency of investments (determination of capital expenditures, incomes, net present value calculation, profitability index, internal rate of return, payback period, average rate of return). 6. Mid-term exam. 7. Management of short-term assets and inventory. 8. Cash management, management of receivables and liabilities. 9. - 11. Financial analysis with the help of a model case and analysis of specific company. 12. - 13. Case study (determination of strategic goals for individual perspectives, setting of criteria, creation of a strategy map). 14. Credit exam.

Learning outcomes
The course follows the Corporate Finance course and deepens and extends the students' knowledge acquired in that course. The course focuses on the issues the financial manager of the company has to face while doing the business. These are respecting the time factor and impact of risks on financial decision-making processes, investment activities, financing of long-term assets and determination of the costs of capital of individual financial resources as well as management of short-term assets. The students are further familiarized with the general aspects of company performance management, not only using the traditional financial methods and models, but also with the help of various modern conceptions of the value based management including factors affecting the company performance.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge gained in courses business administration, corporate finance and accounting.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

For successful completing a course, it is necessary to fulfil these conditions: attendance - 80% at tutorials and successful passing a written test (65%) Exam: exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written part examines the prescribed topics and must be fulfilled to 65%. The oral part is of the prescribed subject content.
