Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to consolidate and complete the competency development of Applied Geography students in the areas of digital, geographic, and cartographic competencies through project-based and problem-oriented learning. The course focuses on the practical application of GIS and related geotechnologies in the planning, design and implementation of geographic projects in a digital environment. Students select their own project topics, conduct reviews of domestic and international scholarly literature, work with English-language professional geographic texts, and design a theoretical geographic data model, including its partial testing. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking in data management, teamwork, structuring workflows to solve geographic problems, and communicating project outcomes using web cartography and digital map storytelling tools. The course also includes a field excursion to a selected geographic institution and systematic reflection on students' own competency development. It specifically prepares students for the selection and realisation of bachelor's projects and final theses.
