Course content
The course content focuses on the following topics: 1) Definition of web cartography and the specifics of map creation in the web environment. 2) Cartographic means of expression, colour, symbolization, and interactive elements of web maps. 3) Preparation and modification of basemaps for web cartographic presentation. 4) Creation of web maps, map applications, and story maps. 5) Visualization of current and dynamically updated geographic data. 6) Basics of user interface, usability, and readability of web map applications. 7) Design, implementation, and presentation of a group web cartography project.

Learning outcomes
The course introduces selected topics in the field of web cartography, with an emphasis on the creation of thematic maps, web map applications, and methods of publishing them in the internet environment. Students will become familiar with the principles of creating web and electronic maps, cartographic means of expression, possibilities for visualizing geographic data, and basic aspects of the user interface of map applications. The course will also discuss current trends in the creation and use of web maps and their influence on geography and other related fields.

Assessment methods and criteria
Presentation of student research activity

Basic GIS orientation and the ability to work with geographic data are expected. Students actively complete exercises, contribute to a group project, and present results. Attendance is mandatory, with two absences permitted.
