Course content
1) Czech Enlightenment National revivalism I - basics, interpretation 2) National revivalism II - personalities and writings Science as a tool of the national emancipation 3) Art as a tool for emancipation The National theatre emancipation 4) Source of the Czech literary modern Birth and development of the modern Czech Art 5) Art avantgarde, ideas and personalities Catholic literature and learning 6) ČSR 1918-1939 as a phenomenon of cultural socialist realism 7) Independent culture 1948-1989

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing)

Learning outcomes
The lecture has particularly methodical aim and will discuss cultural development of the Czech-German society during the last two centuries. Culture had basic influence on arts, education, social emancipation and politics. The lecture is going to be divided in typological and chronological order (rebirth of the Czech nation, Czech moderna, avant-garde, catholic culture, social arts, underground etc.). It is going to react to the latest historiography in the generic synthetic style, some important examples are going to by analysed in detail.
