1) Czechoslovakia in the "New Europe" as a consequence of the world war. Idea and realisation The allies of Czechoslovakia. Pacts and effects 2) Collective security - democracy in the international affairs. Czechoslovakia in the League of nations 3) Fall of the international order in the thirties. Germany versus Czechoslovakia The Munich agreement and its consequences 4) International struggles of the Czech resistance for revival of teh Czechoslovakia in 1938-1945. 5) Czechoslovakia in the USSR sphere of power after 1948 Prague spring 1968 6) "Normalisation" of Czechoslovakia during the Bregnev rule bipolar world in the 80s and Czechoslovakia 7) Breakdown of the soviet bloc and the fall of communist regime in Czechoslovakia Summary

Learning outcomes
|
20 years subsequent to the year 1918 and argues that is was not an only an episode but an important time for the shape of the new world order in positive and negative meaning. International struggle is going to be documented via dealings with great powers´ politics of the anti-German coalition. The lecturer will continue with the analyses of the situation of the Czechoslovakia after the end of the second world war and its role in the Soviet block during the fifties and sixties. It will analyse the role of the reform movement of the sixties in the discourse of the international affairs. It is going to react to the latest historiography.
Students will learn about the development of the Czech and Czechoslovakian international politics after the First world war and the Cold war.
