Course content
1) Czech society on the brink of the 19th century and in 20th century. Its place in Europe and Austria-Hungary. Austria-Hungary and czech politics. 2) Establishment and promotion of the Czechoslovakian state Czechoslovakia, international powers and the Paris peace conference of 1919-1920. 3) Hodden society after 1918 and its Czechoslovakian aspects. Little Entente in the Czechoslovakian Middle European politics. 4) Development f the Czechoslovakian relations to neighboring states. Culture and international affairs, activities of the Czechoslovakian culture. 5) International reasons for the fall of teh Czechoslovakia in 1938-1939. International struggle for the Czechoslovakian state resurrection 1939-1945. 6) Czech lands in plans and politicies of the Nazi Germany. "Big three" view on Czechoslovakian issue. 7) Czechoslovakia and other "free nations". Czechoslovakia and the establishment of the UN.

Learning outcomes
The lecture is focused on the key events of the economical, social and political progress of the great powers in the first half of the twentieth century in the discourse of both great wars and their impact on the society.
