Course content
|
Abstract: The aim is to acquaint students with industrial buildings - decisive representatives of industrial heritage. The history of industrial buildings will be introduced in the basic time periods (pre-industrial, industrial) and a basic range of buildings (single-purpose, multi-purpose) in our country. On the examples it will be presented the quality of industrial buildings (architectural, engineering), ways of recording and evaluation. Part of the course is an excursion to the characteristic production facility. Thematic definition: 01) Industrial Heritage as part of our cultural heritage, an introduction to the topic 02) The terms of classification - the pre-industrial and industrial buildings 03) Single-manufacturing buildings - basic characteristics, kilns, mills 04) Single-manufacturing buildings - Construction Industry, Energy 05) Multi-manufacturing buildings - basic characteristics, examples 06) Production of stacks - origin, evolution and influence on the architecture of industrial buildings 07) Combined production of construction - the basic characteristics, examples 08) Breweries - a typical representative of the domestic food industry 09) Industrial Archaeology (PhDr. Jiří Merta, TM, Brno) 10) Industrial Archaeology (PhDr. Jiří Merta, TM, Brno) 11) and 12) Excursion to the selected plant in Liberec 13) Construction industrial heritage - records, surveys 14) Construction industrial heritage - evaluation, protection, literature

It corresponds to the definition of the subject and to the demands given in syllabus.

Prerequisites

Before enlisting subjects marked as II or III student has to pass same subjects with mark I or II.

Oral exam
Active attendance on discussions (lessons); fulfilment of homework; passing a test successfully; study of recommended literature
