Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop students' digital and spatial competencies through practice-oriented work with historical data, archival sources and collection objects in a digital environment. The course introduces the use of geographic and spatial tools for studying historical topics and demonstrates how space can be understood as an analytical and interpretive dimension of historical research. Students learn to work with historical aerial photographs, old maps and plans, including their digitisation, georeferencing and basic content analysis, to complement historical data through field data collection, and to structure data in a digital environment. The course also addresses the use of Geographic Information Systems and web mapping for the management, analysis and presentation of collection data, as well as the creation of simple map-based and storytelling applications for professional and public communication. The course supports the development of digital literacy, a critical approach to data, and the ability to communicate historical information meaningfully in the digital space.
It corresponds to the definition of the subject and to the demands given in syllabus.
