Learning outcomes

The lectures focus on the political development of the Czech lands within the Habsburg monarchy in the first half of the so-called long 19th century. Students will become familiar with the changes in power relations in Europe, their impact on the international position of the monarchy and its internal development. Discussions on the topics will deal with changes in the political system of the monarchy and the position of the Czech lands within it until the revolutionary year 1848. The lectures reflect economic, religious and cultural life in the Czech lands.
The lectures are followed by exercises in which the students, among other things, present their ability to work with contemporary textual and visual sources. They critically formulate conclusions from the studied professional literature and sources. Part of the seminar is the preparation of a scientific edition of a shorter historical source. It will be used for study by other interested in the field of history at the FP TUL.
