Learning outcomes
The basis of cooperation with students is a general overview of regional history as a specialization accompanying knowledge of regional history. In addition to the interpretation focused on the past of the Liberec region from the Middle Ages to 1918, the emphasis is placed on the results of mainly German-language national history research from the early modern period to the beginning of the 20th century, its working methods and procedures (the period's use of memorial books, municipal and other types of chronicles or other sources) .
Exercises: Practically conducted exercises emphasize the need to master the principles of the historian's craft applied to a selected regional historical topic, with knowledge of relevant sources and literature and a self-evident overview of the types of regional historical workplaces (archives, museums, heritage institutes, etc.). Students acquire knowledge of processing regional topics in seminars, where they present the chosen topic by combining text, image and cartographic sources and present their current use in Internet applications (e.g. GIS). The lesson can include a visit to a selected locality or its monuments with expert interpretation.
