Course content
1) Role of religion in forming early medieval states 2) Carolin rennaisance. Terminology and significance 3) Renovatio imperii Romanorum ? thoughts about Christian universalism 4) Cluny movement? Causes, main objectives, meaning 5) Imperialism and papacy? 6) Collision of civilisations? Christianity and Islam 7) The sgreat schizm. Catholicism and orthodoxy 8) Cities, comunes, town unions. Political and economical significance of cities 9) Teachings about the three orders and town society 10) Medieval education. Universities, medieval intellectuals 11) Medieval heretics 12) Crusades and reconquista in the history of Europe 13) Beginnings of the renaissance

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing)

Learning outcomes
The lecture is focused on deepening the knowledge of the medieval history. During the course, students are going to familiarize themselves with chosen phenomenon of the social, cultural and spiritual aspects of the medieval Europe.
It corresponds to the definition of the subject and to the demands given in syllabus.
