Learning outcomes
|
The course in lectures, but especially during seminaries and field excursions will acquaint students with the basic forms and dilemmas of historical thinking and knowledge in historiography and related social sciences at the turn of the 20th and 21 century. Historical thinking and its specific part - scientific knowledge - will be presented as a socio-cultural phenomenon in connection with historiography courses, ie as creating an objective image of the world, including its evaluation and having its aesthetic, ethical and social dimension.
It corresponds to the definition of the subject and to the demands given in syllabus.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Presentation of artistic and creative activities,
Active participation in the seminar discussion (exercise); continuous fulfillment of assigned tasks (reading reflection); studied mandatory literature. The course is not based on lectures, but rather on shared close-reading of selected texts and analysis of media formats. The condition for awarding credit is the preparation of a review of a selected current historiographic book, max. 2 years old. Deadline: 15. 12. 2025. The review in the range of 2-4 standard pages will be an author's original text without any use of AI. It will mainly contain a reflection on the author's, reader's, content and methodological level of the assessed text, according to the requirements discussed in the course. Ideally, the review should be publishable in the review section of one of the Czech professional periodicals (Fontes Nissae, Marginalia historica, H-O-P, etc.). The oral exam in individual or colloquial form will be based on self-evaluation, i.e. reflection on the pitfalls of the course, the literature read and the skills acquired in the course.
