Course content
Abstract: Lectures: 1) Regional studies, regional history and historical homeland studies in the present and in the past. Terminology of the field, definition of physical and mental boundaries, influences and conflicts of cultures and civilizations. "Auxiliary" fields of historian's research in the region 2) The position of the region (Liberec region) within the millennial development of the Czech state. The lands of the Czech Crown in the Middle Ages: territorial, ecclesiastical and cultural development. 3) The Boleslav region and Liberec in the early modern period: states, settlements, livelihoods, conflicts. Economic, social and demographic development of northern Bohemia / Liberec in the "long" 19th century. 4) Regional research from 16./17. century to 1918 in the Czech lands. Personalities representing research directions and regions from the Enlightenment to modern times, researched topics, important works 6) Ways of using sources in German regional research (until 1918). Possibilities of using the results of German ethnographic production (until 1918) 7) Didactic aspects of regional history at lower levels of education Exercises: Practically conducted exercises emphasize the need to master the principles of the historian 's craft applied to a selected regional historical topic, with knowledge of relevant sources and literature and a natural overview of the types of regional historical workplaces (archives, museums, instituts of heritage etc.)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint the students with the regional history based on chosen themes, from the Middle Ages until the Recent History.
It corresponds to the definition of the subject and to the demands given in syllabus.
Prerequisites
Before enlisting subjects marked as II or III student has to pass same subjects with mark I or II.

Assessment methods and criteria
Essay

Active participation in seminars, presentation of a selected topic. Passing the written and oral exam.
