Course content
1) Federalization of the Czechoslovakia in 1968, Czechs, Slovaks during normalisation 2) Fall of the communist regime and the Slovak issue 3) From the free ellections to jurisdiction laws 4) From jurisdiction laws to political crisis of autumn 1991 5) Some specific aspects of the Czech-Slovak affairs (economical aspects, historical arguments, state law issues in science organisations, question of Moravia and Silesia etc.) 6) Czech-Slovak affairs in the first half of 1992, June elections of 1992 and talks after the elections 7) Break-up, end of the federation

Learning outcomes
The lecture deals with Czech and Slovak diplomatic and other relations since the federalization of 1968 till it´s partition of 1992. The main focus is targeted on the period from the fall of the communist regime till the dissolution of the federation. In the course of the lecture political discussions about the shape of the federation and competencies of national republics are going to be analysed as well as the particular problems of Czech Slovak – relations – economical issues and question of Moravia and Silesia. During the seminars, student will analyze historical sources, presentation of multimedia and student papers.
Students will learn about the development of the Czech and Czechoslovakian international politics after the First world war and the Cold war.
Prerequisites
Fulfilment of previous study obligations, knowledge of Czechoslovak history.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis

Active attendance on discussions (lessons); fulfilment of homework; study of recommended literature. Every student must read at least three books dealing with the topic (it is possible to read also other books than those on the list) and must write a short essay.
