Course content
Abstract: Students will become familiar with the overall development of textile production from the Middle Ages to modern times. Attention will be paid to the development of the textile industry (linen, cloth, cotton, synthetic fabrics) with a primary focus on the Czech lands. The part of interpretation will be to follow the transformations of the organization of textile production from the domesticated type of work and the sweatshops of urban guilds, to factory production, emerging in the process of industrialization from the 19th century. History of textiles will also be understood and presented as part of the development of material culture. Thematic definition: 01) Introduction - basic terminology (raw materials, process, technology), periodization of the history of textile production in relation to the history of material culture and social history. 02) The development of textile production from prehistory to the Middle Ages. 03) Textile Crafts of the Czech lands until mid 17th century. 04) Textile production in pre-industrial period. 05) Textile manufacturing and industrial revolution. 06) Textile Industry in the Czech lands until the First World War. 07) The development of textile industry in the twentieth century.

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
