Course content
Seminar topics: 1. Building conceptual structure - motivation, separated models, universal models, abstract knowledge, crystallization. 2. Fragments, concepts, working with them. Use of opinion when working with fractions. 3. Calculate part of the whole (representation). Calculate multiple parts of the whole. Decimal numbers. 4. Simple word tasks with one operation - methodical procedure, types of tasks. 5. Composite vocabulary - methodical procedure (opinion). 6. Recognizing natural numbers addition - Comparison of methods. Writing a natural number in different numerical systems 7. Divisibility of natural numbers, common multiple and divisor - application tasks. 8. Creating a natural environment for acquiring more experience with numbers. 9. Transmissive and Constructivist Approach to Teaching Mathematics. 10. Conversational and divergent thinking in mathematics, specifics at elementary school. Algorithms in primary school. 11. Activating activities in the teaching of mathematics at elementary school. 12. Logic-combination thinking of pupils - methods of their development, activating activities. 13. Formalism in mathematics - formal and informal knowledge, diagnosis of formalism. 14. Digital technologies - positives and negatives in their use.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Active metods (simulation, situational contingency methods, drama,acting, namagerial acting ), Demonstration of student skills
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 18 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 14 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Equip students with knowledge, habits and skills to use activating activities in teaching on selected topics of mathematics at the 1st stage of elementary school (fractions, word problems, natural numbers, decimal numbers, divisibility) development of convergent and divergent thinking, logical-combinational thinking, use of modern information technologies in teaching. Commenting on mathematical concepts, preparation of mathematical games, competitions, exercises.
Theoretical knowledge and practical acquirements from required area.

Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Presentation of acquired experience via portfolio
