Course content
1. Introduction, textiles and humankind 2. History of textile inventions I (from ancient to medieval times) 3. History of textile inventions II (from garments to spaceships) 4. History of natural fibers 5. History of chemical fibers I. 6. History of chemical fibers II. 7. History of inorganic fibers Laboratory works (analysis of fibers and yarns)

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Lectures are focused on the developments and applications of fibers, textile machinery, textile technology, dyestuffs and textile structures including clothing. Historic phases are selected according to the degree of development in industry and state of textiles constructions. The connections between industrial developments are shown. The logical connections and breakthrough solutions are discussed.
